Long-distance move from Stirling, Stirlingshire to Maidstone, Kent

Packing, storage and Removal.

Just moved into our new home 3.8.18 Purdies packed and loaded all our home in three days, dismantling and rebuilding beds, transporting numerous indoor and outdoor plants and stored the bulk of our home over a weekend. They delivered part load for us on the Friday so we could do estential work in our new home and then delivered the full load on Monday. The whole process went brilliantly well and was stress free. Stevie & Simon in particular were absolutely fantastic. They were very professional , accommodating and friendly. Thank you Purdies we would certainly recommend you as right from you visiting us to recommend and quote to the actual move we felt confident in your service. Sylvia & Bill.

International move from Edinburgh, Midlothian to , VA

International removal.

Although my consignment was eventually delivered intact the move itself took more than 18 months but for most of this time my furniture was actually in storage at the companies premises. At the original point of doing business that some time might pass due to my consignment being sent by groupage, that was to say consolidated with other shipments so as to reduce costs. When the company contacted me over a year later, towards the end of last year I thought it would be to inform me that my consignment had not moved anywhere it was still in storage. Though at the time of arranging the shipment I completed all the paperwork I was asked to complete, the company claimed they did not have adequate documentation to ship my consignment my wife's passport detail. They were also demanding extra payment for the length of time my consignment had been in storage! I refused to pay the amount they asked and haggled for a lesser sum which they accepted. However the paperwork they eventually submitted was incorrect anyway, my wife thought because the documentation was for a commercial shipment rather than domestic. This is speculation of course on our part but for whatever reason US customs rejected the documentation and then the local mover stateside charged me to redo the documentation and additional storage a total of $480 on top of the original and extra charges I had paid. Not only that however having tried multiple times to pay these extra charges which I was still unhappy about by card or SWIFT bank transfer incurring extra fees at each stage eventually I had to pay the delivery driver in cash (incurring fees to withdraw the funds from an auto teller machine and having to walk there and back in the dark with a sizeable sum in cash). Such a long delay meant we had already had to replace a lot of the stuff in our shipment now we have two houses worth of stuff in one house with the problems that causes but all the stuff arrived intact (well to tell the truth we haven't unpacked yet so watch this space) and apparently nothing missing. I have a receipt for the cash paid out and a promise I will be reimbursed my SWIFT payment which is in transit but I am out of that sum for the next 5 working days. I am not a happy bunny as I think the idiom is.

Service cost: £4500
